Only small fraction of our population has the privilege of getting formal higher education. Young people belonging to economically weaker sections of the society are often compelled to take up jobs to support their families before completing their formal education. With a view to providing educational opportunities to such deprived students without institutional enrolment for regular study, the Sambalpur University decided to conduct separate examinations for private candidates. The examinations are scheduled in Sundays so that the candidates can take the examinations without disrupting their normal work-schedule and without taking leave from their jobs.
